The house is all on ground level and consists of a fitted kitchen, dining room and lounge. The office is at the top end of the house and the young person’s rooms are at the other end set off the corridor. There are three bedrooms which all have access to the two bathrooms both of which contain a shower and a bath.
The young person’s rooms are warm and comfortable and the young people are given the choice of colour and decor for their own room. The young people are encouraged to bring their own possessions to help make their rooms feel like their own. We provide a TV with free view in each bedroom.
Due to the location of Knockenshang and the forest track, staff park in the village of Ae and come up through the forest in the company jeeps. Outside at the front of the property there is a parking area for the vehicles. Knockenshang has chickens and the chicken hut is at the front of the property outside the fence. The garden has a walled centerpiece filled with gravel and a birdbath to allow the young people to relax whilst watching the birds feed at the same time. To the rear of the property is a large field containing sheep. There are many different types of birds and wildlife in the forest such as owls, deer, stoats, squirrels, badgers and an otter was recently living at the back of Knockenshang. The forest surrounds Knockenshang and there are many different tracks out of it leading to main roads in Dumfrieshire.
