Dala is situated in a small village Dumfriesshire with bus links to Lockerbie and Dumfries which have an array of leisure facilities and a good shopping centre. Dala is a detached four bed-roomed bungalow set in large grounds which offers space for outdoor games and we also encourage our young people to grow vegetables and flowers. We aim to ensure that our house reflects that of a family home where young people feel safe, relaxed and cared for in a non-institutionalised setting.
The house has a fitted kitchen, dining room and lounge. We have an extra room for meetings, key worker sessions etc which is bright and comfortable. There is also a bedroom/office for staff. We have one en suite and two single rooms for our young people which are welcoming and of a high standard. Each of the young person’s bed-room is warm and bright and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions so as to make their bedroom feel their own. Young people also receive a welcome pack which includes an information book about the service which was done by some of our young people. Young People also are given money to buy posters etc to personalise their bedrooms.
Outside at the front of the property there is a parking area for four vehicles and to the rear of the property there is a very large garden which is home for a variety of wildlife including rabbits and pheasants. We have an outdoor wood built den at the end of the garden with a barbeque which some of our staff and young people built and it is well used in the summer months.
